Lectra hosts seminar in Chennai on car interior solutions
The seminar aim was to leverage Lectra’s innovative automotive solutions to achieve efficiency and increase productivity.
French integrated technology company, Lectra hosted a day-long ‘Design to Manufacture’ seminar in Chennai on August 4. The event saw participation from leading automotive seating and airbag suppliers, and passenger car manufacturers.
The focus of the seminar was on how customers can leverage Lectra’s innovative automotive solutions to achieve efficiency and increase productivity. The seminar was held in India as it is the sole country among the top seven car markets to grow at a double-digit rate in the first five months of 2017.
With the country being a prominent auto exporter with strong export growth expectations in the near future, several initiatives by the Indian government and major automotive players in the Indian market are expected to support India’s ambition to be a leader in the global two-wheel and four-wheel market by 2020.
Also, with growing customer expectations and an uptick in export demand, Indian car seats and interior manufacturers have to overcome many challenges such as the need to optimise production processes, safeguard margins, guarantee quality, enhance competitiveness and ensure sustainable growth.
Laser airbag cutting solution
The French company showcased FocusQuantum, its innovative state-of-the-art laser airbag cutting solution that is already being used by leading, global airbag cushion suppliers.
In addition, the company’s new strategy, designed to help manufacturers embrace industry 4.0 and their transformation to smart, connected factories was also spoken about. “Lectra offers a complete range of innovative technologies and services to make sure that each automotive customer increases profitability from their long-term investments. Lectra’s innovative services, coupled with its business expertise, enable customers to optimise their fabric and leather cutting processes and maximise productivity,” said BT Nagesh, managing director, Lectra India.
Lectra says it will host a series of ‘Design to Manufacture’ seminars in other automotive hubs of India.
