Kia India’s first all-electric model – the EV6 crossover – has been introduced in the country, at a starting price of Rs 59.95 lakh, ex-showroom. The crossover comes in two options, the base rear-wheel-drive variant, and the top-end all-wheel-drive trim, which comes priced at Rs 64.95 lakh, ex-showroom.

The EV6 comes as a CBU and will be limited to only 100 units for 2022. The company will commence deliveries in September and customers would only be able to buy Kia’s flagship from a handpicked 15 outlets in 12 cities across the country. The company will install 150kW DC fast chargers at these designated showrooms to facilitate fast charging options for customers of the premium EV6.

In terms of styling, the EV6 sports a striking design with its unique ducktail-styled rear spoiler and full-LED tail light setup. There are modern elements like flush-fitting door handles and sharp creases all around, and in the GT-Line trim, it features 19-inch alloy wheels.

The interior features a curved dual-12.3-inch screen layout, floating centre console and two-spoke steering wheel. There is a 14-speaker Meridian surround sound system as well as ADAS features on board as well.

The EV6 is available in India in a sole 77.4kWh battery pack, and produces 229hp and 350Nm in the rear-wheel-drive version, while the dual-motor setup churns out 325hp and 605Nm. Kia claims a range of 528km on a single charge on the WLTP cycle.

A 22kW wall-box charger comes bundled along with the EV6, as standard, and it also supports DC fast charging at up to 350kW. Kia hasn’t specified plans to locally assemble the EV6 in the country, and till that time, it would continue to be priced at a premium, owing to the hefty import duties.
