Isuzu Motors India opens first dealership in Rajasthan, in Jaipur

Isuzu Motors India today opened its first showroom in Jaipur, also its first in the state of Rajasthan.

Isuzu Motors India today opened its first showroom in Jaipur, also its first in the state of Rajasthan. It has launched its MU-7 SUV and its D-Max pickup and will cater to consumers in the state. While the MU-7 is priced at Rs 19.69 lakh upwards, the D-MAX range is priced from Rs 6.13 lakh upwards (ex-showroom Jaipur).

Commenting on the occasion, Shigeru Wakabayashi, deputy managing director, Isuzu Motors India, said, “I am delighted to inaugurate our first dealership in Jaipur as we are progressing and expanding our footprint in the country. This dealership marks our entry into the largest state of the country which houses many industries including minerals, agriculture and textiles. The state is known for its versatile culture, elite buying stature and we are confident that our vehicles, known for their ruggedness, durability and fuel efficiency will definitely appeal to our customers.” 

He further added, “Rajasthan is a key market in Isuzu’s growth strategy for India and we are hopeful that this dealership will help us further strengthen our position.”

Isuzu plans to open 60 outlets across India by end of 2015-16. At present, the company has a presence in Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka with dealerships in Delhi, Noida, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Madurai, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Kochi.

Isuzu Motors India, a subsidiary of Isuzu Motors, Japan was set up in August 2012 in Chennai. At present, it has a contract manufacturing agreement with Hindustan Motors (HML) under which HML is contract assembling CKD kits of the MU-7 and D-Max, at its Thiruvallur, Chennai plant.

Isuzu has begun civil work on its proposed 107-acre manufacturing plant site in SriCity, TADA, Chitoor, Andhra Pradesh. This new facility is likely to commence commercial operations by early 2016, with the initial production capacity at 50,000 units a year. Isuzu will scale up the production capacity to 120,000 units a year, with the accumulated investment of Rs 3,000 crore, and is expected to generate 2,000~3,000 jobs. Isuzu Motors India plans to achieve 100 percent percent localization within three years of commencing production in 2016.
