Indian Motorcycle today launched what it calls the most premium touring machine, the Indian Roadmaster Elite, priced at Rs 48 lakh (ex-showroom) in Mumbai. This head-turner features a custom-inspired dual tone candy paint, which is handcrafted with real 23K gold leaf badging on the fuel tank.

The industry-leading, seven-inch Indian Motorcycle Ride Command System is standard and has technology features like Bluetooth audio, navigation, vehicle information and status and split-screen technology to customise the display to focus on the details essential for riders.

Pankaj Dubey, managing director and Country Head, Polaris India, handed over the keys to Swaranjit Singh Bajaj, the first owner of the Indian Roadmaster Elite in India.

James P Williams, senior VP and chief HR Officer, Polaris Industries and Pankaj Dubey, MD, Polaris India at the inauguration of the Indian Motorcycle showroom in Mumbai.

Commenting on the launch and exclusivity of the flagship model of the Indian Motorcycle line-up, Dubey said: “The Indian Roadmaster Elite embodies the rich heritage of authenticity, fine handcrafted quality and legendary American spirit. The dual-tone candy paint 23K gold leaf badging marks the uniqueness of this product. It also features the Indian Motorcycle Ride Command System, which is a pinch, touch, swipe solution for information essential for riders. This product has an attitude for riders looking for the best of the machines.”

Speaking to Autocar Professional, Dubey said that the company is aiming at 60 to 70 percent year-on-year growth in 2018 on the back of its revised pricing strategy (prices were reduced between 5-10 percent in March 2018) and a growing economy. In 2017, sales had dipped by 20 to 30 percent due to a disruptive economic environment and the shift from BS III to BS IV emission norms.

Indian Motorcycle, whose product range pricing starts at Rs 10.99 lakh, is now looking to ride growing demand by expanding its dealer network. The company currently has 7 dealerships across India at New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh. Four more are to come up at new locations including Guwahati, Jaipur and Kochi.
