As confirmed by Autocar Professional’s newsbreak on March 20, India Kawasaki Motors launched the supercharged sportsbike Ninja H2, its quickest street-legal motorcycle in India, at Rs 29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The launch took place at Delhi’s own international race track, the Buddh International Circuit.

The Kawasaki Ninja H, which will be the most powerful superbike on Indian roads, is in a league of its own, with ingenious technology and head-turning looks replete with futuristic styling. The Ninja H2’s advanced engine is built by Kawasaki and its aerospace department, part of Kawasaki Heavy Industries. The H2 is equipped with a supercharged engine, a 998cc in-line 4- cylinder unit, with identical bore and stroke (76.0 x 55.0) as the Ninja ZX-10R, in a very different state of tune. Thanks to a supercharger, the H2 develops 197.3bhp at 11,000rpm and 13.6kgm of peak torque at 10,500rpm.

The Ninja H2 is available in a black, mirro-coated, paint scheme. The Ninja H2 also has large 330mm disc brakes up front and a 250mm rear disc brake with a non-switchable ABS braking system in place.

The Ninja H2 marks Kawasaki’s seventh fully imported superbike in its India portfolio with the other six being the Ninja 1000, Ninja ZX-10R, Ninja ZX-14R, Versys 1000, Z1000 and Z800. The other four models – Ninja 300, Ninja 650, ER-6n and Z250 – which are positioned in the growing midsized bike segment, are imported as completely knocked down units (CKDs) and are assembled at Bajaj Auto’s Akurdi (Pune) facility. While the Z250 is known to have a localisation rate of close to 40 percent, the bigger 650cc siblings use local content of up to 25-30 percent.

The company plans to launch two new models in India this year and set up four new showrooms too. Kawasaki original apparel will be soon sold in India.
