Hyundai is likely to showcase the heavily updated i20 at the upcoming Auto Expo in February 2018. The automaker had begun road-testing the car earlier this year.

The 2018 Hyundai i20 will sport the Korean carmaker’s latest design theme, which will make it look similar to the recently launched models like the new Verna and the facelifted Xcent compact sedan. The i20’s two-part grille will make way for a larger, single-piece ‘Cascade’ grille layout. While the headlamps get minor design tweaks, the bumper will get an all-new look.

On the sides, the i20 is expected to look the same, except for chunkier, newly designed alloy wheels. At the back, the car will see minor changes to its tailgate and will come with new-look tail-lamps with LED inserts, similar to the ones seen on the new Verna.  On the inside, expect the new i20 to share interior bits with the new Verna, including the updated infotainment system.

The i20 facelift is likely to continue with the same set of engines – the 1.2-litre petrol (MT only), the 1.4-litre diesel (MT only) and the 1.4-litre petrol (AT only).

The refreshed Hyundai i20 will take on the likes of the popular Maruti Baleno and the Honda Jazz which is also slated to receive a mid-life update. It will also rival the upcoming Tata X451 hatchback when it hits Indian roads in 2019.
