Hyundai Motor India today launched its new Verna sedan at prices starting at Rs 930,535 for the base 1.5-litre petrol 'S' variant and going up to Rs 15,9900 for the top-end 1.5-litre diesel SX(O) AT variant. There are a total of 9 variants at different price points, a strategy aimed at cornering a wide swathe of buyers.

Commenting on the launch of the new sedan, S S Kim, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motor India, said, “The new Verna is an all-rounder sedan with human technology connect comprising futuristic design, smart connect, ingenious detailing and superior dynamics for new-age aspirational customers. Hyundai says it is banking on a five-pillar strategy -- Spectacular Design, Outstanding Features, High Reliability, Advanced Technology and Youthful Performance -- to make gains in the sedan market with the new Verna.

From the outside, the new Verna aims to draw urban buyers with its styling. The front showcases a strong yet elegant stance. The sedan also gets LED headlamps and dark chrome radiator grille. The Turbo trim offers design integrations like twin-tip muffler and glossy black grille along with all-black interiors. R16 dual-tone steel wheel and diamond-cut alloys adds to the sporty looks.

Fully loaded to the brim
The 2020 Hyundai Verna comes loaded to the brim with features such as a digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, tyre pressure monitoring system, a 20.32 cm touch-screen infotainment system, wireless charger and an electronic sunroof. The car also offers connectivity solution in the form of Hyundai’s Blue Link telematics system that uses a Vodafone-Idea e-SIM and a cloud-based voice recognition platform.

There are over 45 Blue Link features on offer in the form of safety, security, remote operations, vehicle relationship management, geographic information services, alert services and voice recognition.

In terms of safety, the new Verna comes equipped with dual front airbags and ABS and EBD as standard, along with the option of vehicle stability management (VSM), electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start assist and front park-assist features.

Just like its recent launches the Creta and the Aura, Hyundai has brought in the option of turbocharged petrol to the new Verna as well. The car now gets the option of the same 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor from the Aura which develops 118bhp and comes mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox.

Other powertrain options include a 1.5-litre BS VI-compliant petrol engine paired to a 6-speed manual or IVT gearbox and a 1.5-litre BS VI diesel unit that comes mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Both engines develop 113bhp of power.
