Hyundai launches BS VI diesel Elantra

The new 1.5-litre U2 CRDi motor gets a manual as well as automatic transmission option.

Hyundai Motor India introduced a BS VI compliant diesel engine in its D-segment sedan, the Hyundai Elantra.

The company has launched the 1.5-litre U2 CRDi engine, which produces 113bhp of power and 250Nm of peak torque, and comes equipped with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission option.

The diesel engine option comes only in the top two SX and SX (O) trims. On the other hand, the 2.0-litre petrol engine option can be availed in a total of three trims including two automatics. 

The car comes with exterior features such as quad LED projector headlamps with DRLs, LED tail lamps, electric sunroof and 16-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, it gets a dual-zone climate control system, 10-way adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats and a 20.32cm touchscreen infotainment display with Hyundai’s BlueLink connectivity.

In terms of safety, the Elantra comes equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC and hill-start assist. The car also features a tyre-pressure monitoring system and remote vehicle tracking and immobilisation. 

Hyundai has priced the BS VI Elantra between Rs 17.6 lakh and Rs 20.65 lakh. While the diesel Elantra starts at Rs 18.70 lakh, ex-showroom, India, the petrol model is priced between Rs 17.6 lakh and Rs 19.55 lakh.
