Hyundai launches automatic Elite i20 with more power

The carmaker has also added features like six airbags, speed sensing auto door lock and height adjustable front seat belts on the existing variants of the Elite i20 and i20 Active.

Hyundai Motor India today announced the addition of a new 1.4-litre petrol engine variant to its top-selling premium hatchback Elite i20. Equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission and additional safety reinforcement the company has priced the new car at Rs 9.01 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.

The all-new 1,368cc, dual VTVT petrol unit on the new variant makes 100hp. This new engine is Hyundai’s second 1.4-litre petrol unit on sale, with the Verna currently using an older 1,396cc VTVT engine.

The carmaker has also added features like six airbags, speed sensing auto door lock and height adjustable front seat belts on the existing variants of the Elite i20 and i20 Active.

Announcing the introduction of the new variant said, Rakesh Srivastava, senior VP – Sales & Marketing, HMIL, said “The Hyundai i20 is super performer brand in the premium compact segment.  Hyundai has developed a solid reputation for quality, design, performance and premium features. As a customer-centric company, our goal is to enhance the overall value proposition of i20 brand and make it more aspirational and desirable for wide range of different people.”

The India-made i20 brand has already crossed 1 million units in sales across the world and has been a regular feature among the top 10 most sold cars in the country as well.
