Hyundai Motor India, the country’s second largest car manufacturer, today inaugurated the Hyundai Professional Development Center at SGM Government Polytechnic College, Hyderabad.

This initiative is part of its CSR programme and support to community enhancement on education standards, in line with the latest technologies through tie-ups with leading polytechnic institutes. The company assists with the specially designed curriculum, training material, cars, engines, gearboxes and other learning aids.

Speaking on the occasion, Y K Koo, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motor India, said, “We are very happy about this association with SGM Government Polytechnic College. Hyundai creates a constant resource pool of skilled ‘Service Advisors’ for the automobile service industry. Our responsibility is to continue such initiatives to benefit the industry and society.”

The new curriculum will expose trade students to modern automobile technologies thereby increasing their opportunities of employability and career prospects. The new syllabus and practical training at dealerships will benefit polytechnic colleges in creating skillful professionals for the Indian automotive service industry.

Under its CSR Skill Development Program, Hyundai Motor India made its first ITI tie-up in 2012. Since then, Hyundai has tied up with 38 ITIs across India with at least one ITI tie-up in each Indian state. Today’s tie-up is the first in Telangana state.

Hyundai says almost 99 percent of trained graduates from the Skill Development Program (2012-2016) were recruited by Hyundai dealerships in 2017. The programme has already benefited over 1,000 students who studied the course in ITIs and polytechnics across the country.
