Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), the country’s second largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has signed an MoU with the Directorate of Training and Technical Education (DTTE) in Delhi, the state government’s nodal body for providing technical manpower. The two are to collaborate to provide industry-specific job-oriented education to students of two Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Delhi - at Jaffarpur and Nand Nagri.

Under the MoU, HMSI will invest to develop fully functional service workshops including the tools in both the ITIs and the company will also provide its Activa and CB Shine models to the institutions for training purposes. The MoU aims to empower youth with industry relevant infrastructure and quality skills.

Speaking on the occasion of signing the MoU with DTTE, Prabhu Nagraj, vice-president, Customer Service, HMSI, said, “The Indian automotive industry’s contribution to GDP is set to almost double by 2026. Industry needs to contribute in generating skilled manpower to realise this growth. With Honda’s MoU with DTTE, students can now have more industry-relevant skills and increase their employability chances. HMSI will be collaborating with more ITIs in India in the next financial year.”

The company has been actively working towards supporting the education of students in an industry focused curriculum and has imparted training to over 3,000 technicians across India at its five existing Honda Technical Centres of Excellence since 2016. These centres are located in Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Pune, Bangalore and Karnal.

On completion of training, Honda will also provide recruitment opportunities to candidates at HMSI dealerships in Delhi.
