New Honda Jazz sells 9,012 units in India since launch

The new Jazz hatchback has sold a total of 9,012 units in India since its launch on July 8. Honda Cars India had despatched 2,336 cars in June to dealers across the country and in July, it sold 6,676 units of the car.

The Jazz became the single-largest contributor to Honda Cars India’s 18% growth (18,606 units) in the monthly sales for July 2015.

The company says the Jazz has been very popular with first-time car buyers as they contributed close to 45 percent of the total sales volume in the first month of sales. It is also the best response Honda Cars has received from first-time buyers for any of its models.

Commenting on the customer response to the car, Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice-president, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India, said, “We are extremely happy with the response received for the new Jazz. The Jazz has been able to expand the premium hatchback segment and its volumes will significantly contribute to the growth we are expecting this year.”

On August 3, Autocar Professional had reported on Honda Cars India juggling demand for the Jazz with cuts in the production runs for the Mobilio MPV and Amaze sedan at its Tapukara (Rajasthan) and Greater Noida plants.
