Honda crosses 20 million two-wheeler customer mark in India

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has crossed the 20 million customer mark in India. The 20 millionth vehicle rolled out last week.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has crossed the 20 million customer mark in India. The 20 millionth vehicle rolled out last week.

Keita Muramatsu, president and CEO, said, “We thank our valued customers, business partners, associates, and colleagues at Honda for this remarkable feat. We will continue our endeavour by introducing more advanced products and services across all segments.”

Y S Guleria, vice-president (Sales & Marketing), added, “We are delighted on achieving this 20 million customer’s milestone by serving customer needs and aspirations across the large geographical and demographic spread of India. We will continue to raise our operational benchmarks.”

Honda’s growth in India has been driven predominantly by the Activa scooter and the CB Shine motorcycle, both models leading the sales volumes in their respective segments.

In a bid to improve its demand-supply chain and strengthen its 55 percent market share in the fast-growing automatic scooter segment, HMSI had announced its fourth plant – the world’s biggest scooter manufacturing facility in India – at Vithalapur, in the Ahmedabad district of Gujarat. Spread across 80 acres, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 1.2 million units, augmenting  HMSI’s total annual production capacity to 5.8 million units.
