Hero MotoCorp March sales slips YoY but clocks highest annual premium bike retails

On a month-on-month basis, Hero MotoCorp clocked 25 percent higher sales in March.

Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, sold 450,154 units in March 2022, down 14 percent YoY compared to 524,608 two-wheelers sold in March 2021.

On a month-on-month basis, however, there has been significant improvement in the sales. The March numbers are 25 percent higher than 358,254 units dispatches in February. The company is hopeful of building sales momentum, going forward in FY2023. The highlight of the March sales were the highest annual Premium motorcycle retails in the past 5 years and highest ever Xpulse retails at 5348 units in March. The two-wheeler maker also recorded strong recovery in Glamour sales with highest ever monthly sales in March for any non-festive month during the year

For the entire fiscal, FY2022, Hero MotoCorp sold 49, 44,150 units of two-wheelers compared to 57,91,539 units in FY2021, down 14 percent. 

In keeping with its aggressive growth strategy in the scooter segment, Hero MotoCorp launched the new Destini 125 ‘XTEC’. The company also strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of digitization and technology expert, Reema Jain as Chief Information and Digital Officer to lead the technology driven business transformation.

Going forward, all eyes would be on the announced rollout of the first EV from Chittoor plant on July 1, 2022.
