Hero Electric, the pioneer of electric two-wheelers in India, has launched a High and Low speed scooter in lithium ion technology, an Electric Tipper/ Dumper and a two-wheeler electric charger. The products were unveiled in New Delhi in the presence of Satyender Jain, minister of health and industry; Naveen Munjal, managing director, Hero Eco and Sohinder Gill, CEO, Global Hero Eco.

The High and Low speed scooter is fitted with a lithium ion technology that is specifically tailored to withstand Indian weather and road conditions. This launch comes a day after Bangalore-based startup, Ather Energy’s announcement of launching its first product S340, which will also be powered by a lithium ion battery.

The electric Tipper/ Dumper is the first in its category to make an entry into the Indian market. It has the ability to carry 400 kg of load and has a hydraulic tipper to unload materials. The last offering, an electric two-wheeler charger, can conventionally charge EVs in covered/ uncovered locations meant for e-bikes.

Commenting on the occasion, Naveen Munjal said, “We are extremely thrilled to introduce Her Eco’s leading German technology in India through our new products. We are committed to our vision to provide green mobility to the country and look forward to consistent innovation towards developing remarkable products for the Indian EV market. We are also thankful to the Delhi government for their support and help.”

Speaking about the launch, Sohinder Gill said, “We have been able to tap lithium ion technology thanks to the Delhi government and our own extensive research in the EV segment. With the city’s pollution levels growing at an alarming rate, restorative steps in the form of EVs are the need of the hour.”

Talking about the new product, Satyender Jain said, “We applaud Hero Electric’s efforts in the environment conservation space. Their product offering and ideology are in tangent with the government’s objective as well. I believe we all have to collectively resolve to make a switch to environment-friendly methods. Only then can we hope to see a positive change.”

As a viable solution to Delhi residents’ commuting troubles during the ‘odd-even’ days, Hero Electric even stationed e-bikes at Metro stations and prominent city spots to ferry people to their destinations.
