Gurpratap Boparai to take over as MD of Skoda Auto India
Boparai has over 25 years of experience in the automobile sector and has worked with companies like Fiat India Automobiles, TELCO (now Tata Motors), Ocap Chassis Parts, Iveco and Tata Cummins.
It is reliably learnt that Gurpratap Boparai, CEO, Fiat India Automobiles, is to take over as managing director of Skoda Auto India. Skoda Auto India and Volkswagen India will look to benefit from his skills and experience in manufacturing, vendor development and sourcing.
Boparai had joined Fiat India in 2007 as assistant vice-president, manufacturing and powertrain division, and took over as head of the powertrain division in 2009 where he was responsible for business development and overlooking all the functions of powertrain plants like manufacturing, finance, HR and PE among others. He was appointed CEO in August 2012.
