Bajaj Auto has announced that it has launched the world’s most fuel efficient bike – the all-new Platina ES developed on a new platform. The Platina ES, which is priced at Rs 44,272 (ex-showroom, Pune) is not just an upgrade on the successful Platina but also a technological leap.

Powered by a new DTS-i engine, the new commuter bike is claimed to have delivered 96.9 kilometres per litre as tested by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). This makes the Platina ES the most fuel efficient 100cc motorcycle in the world.

Commenting on the launch, Eric Vas, president (Motorcycle Business), Bajaj Auto, said: “The original Bajaj Platina, which has sold over five million units, has always been known for its great mileage and reliability. The new Platina now takes mileage to an unbeatable level of 96.9kpl.”

The new Platina ES has been designed to appeal to the long distance commuter. It gets a new long travel telescopic front suspension and SNS (double spring) rear suspension. Moreover it has a long wheelbase and three inch wide rear tyres for superior grip and control on uneven roads. All of which result in a superior ride experience.

The Platina ES gets refreshed styling (new side panels, new exhaust, refreshed headlamp design, new graphics and alloy wheels) as well as electric start and the longest seat in the segment.
