Ford India opens Technical Training centre in Chennai

Ford India aims to further strengthen its efforts to create a pool of trained and talented technicians, the company today inaugurated its Technical Training Centre (TTC) in Chennai. The new facility will be the fourth such facility run by Ford to equip technicians from its dealership with future technologies and skills.

The 18,000 sqft Chennai TTC facility, is located inside Ford’s Chennai vehicle assembly and engine plant in Chengalpattu. It will additionally train 1,500 technicians - taking the total number of trained technicians to 2,500 per year across facilities in India.

“Delivering a differentiated experience remains critical to all our initiatives,” said Vinay Raina, executive director, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India. “With state of the art training centres across India, we are not only building a strong pool of technicians but also brand ambassadors who will deliver the feels like family experience to our customers.”

The new facility is equipped with six classrooms, which will provide technicians an understanding of Ford’s current and forthcoming products and technologies, provide specialised body shop/paint repair training to enhance the quality of accident repair. The centre also features Connected Studio to facilitate online training for over 200 dealer technicians at a time across locations.

Alongside its own Technical Training Centre, Ford has also partnered with Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to offer exclusive Motor Mechanic Vehicle (MMV) curriculum to students. Till date, Ford has launched Automotive Student Service Educational Training (ASSET) centres across 14 cities in India – including Kochi, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, Mohali, Chennai, Sonepat, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata Cuttack, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Bhopal.

Ford India has a network of 465 sales and service facilities in 267 cities across the country.
