Ducati has launched the Streetfighter V2 in India at Rs 17.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is powered by the same engine as the Panigale V2 sportbike and is the latest addition to Ducati's Streetfighter line-up after the range-topping Streetfighter V4 SP.

The engine powering this sporty naked bike is the same Superquadro mill found in the Panigale V2 sportbike. Displacing 955cc, this engine develops 153hp at 10,750rpm and 101.4Nm at 9,000rpm (2hp and 2.6Nm lesser than the fully faired Panigale V2). The engine acts as a stressed member of the frame with the front monocoque chassis bolted directly to it as is the single-sided swingarm.

Suspending the 178kg (dry) Streetfighter V2 is a 43mm Showa Big Piston USD fork at the front and a Sachs monoshock at the rear, both fully adjustable units. Braking hardware on offer here is from Italian mainstays, Brembo. The 4.32 monoblock calipers aren't top-notch Stylema units but are respectable componentry nonetheless. The 4.3-inch TFT dash on offer allows you to control a host of rider aids such as cornering ABS and traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control as well as toggle between the three ride modes on offer – Sport, Road and Wet.

At this price point, the Streetfighter V2 doesn't have any rivals to speak of. However, the recently launched Suzuki Katana is very comparable in terms of output figures.
