Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), that is cooperating with Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, Japan (MFTBC) under the umbrella of Daimler Trucks Asia, launched its DICV-made Fuso trucks in South Africa, making it the 14th market since the start of export in May 2013.
To start with, DICV will export the light to medium-duty trucks and set the pace for more ‘built in India’ products in the future. Under the Asian strategy, there are synergies between Kawasaki and the Oragadam plant in optimising research activities, product development and sourcing thereby providing reliable, efficient and quality products.
DICV says the robust, fuel-efficient truck is developed to meet the demanding customer expectations in the South African market. Rigorous testing has been conducted under most strenuous driving conditions to ensure maximum reliability of the trucks.
Commenting on the development, Erich Nesselhauf, managing director and CEO of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, said, “To export to South Africa is part of our global growth strategy and we are well on track with our export business. The trucks for South Africa are proven vehicles in many markets and will enhance business potential for our South African customers. Export from India
Under the umbrella of Daimler Trucks Asia, DICV and MFTBC (Mitsubishi Truck and Bus Corporation) have combined their strength to tap its sales potential further. While DICV focuses on the Indian market with its BharatBenz brand and caters to countries such as Nepal, that are similar to Indian market conditions, MFTBC will service the rising demand in the Asian and African regions with its existing portfolio of Mitsubishi-Fuso trucks from its plant in Kawasaki and the Fuso trucks produced in Oragadam.
