Dhoot Transmission acquires San Electromec to enhance portfolio
Fourth acquisition by Dhoot Transmission, Aurangabad-based leader in wiring harness
Aurangabad-headquartered Dhoot Transmission, the second largest wiring harness manufacturer in the two-wheeler segment in the country, has acquired San Electromec, the Bengaluru-based manufacturer of wire harness and control panels for highway and railway sector to enhance its portfolio, especially in railways, defence, construction and speciality vehicle segments.
This is the fourth acquisition by Dhoot Transmission which had bought Parkinson Harness Technology (UK), TFC Cable Assemblies (Scotland) and a JV into automotive switches and controllers with Carling Technologies of the USA, before this.
Founded in 2001, San Electromec Industries is known for high quality, differentiated, customer-centric solutions right from cabling systems, wiring harnesses and control panels. Close to two decades of operating independently, San Electromec counts Wirtgen, Volvo, Terex, Faiveley, BEML, Tata Motors and several other companies as its clientele.
Dhoot Transmission, founded in 1998, has grown at a CAGR of 20 percent over the last three years. With its own set of core offerings and acquired entities, Dhoot has established formidable presence in wiring harnesses, moulding and tooling for automotive, construction, farming, off-roading, specialty vehicle segment.
Dhoot operates across 15 manufacturing locations spread over India, United Kingdom, Europe & Thailand.
Dhoot Transmission managing director, Rahul Dhoot said that there are no plans of moving San Electromec facilities to Dhoot operations in Aurangabad. "With this acquisition, we aim to expand geographically, while adding new capabilities and client markets. It is our endeavor to support the existing San Electromec facility in every way and grow the enterprise as best as we can together.
Further, he added “They have tremendous capabilities, product knowledge and longstanding, strong relationships with many of the premier companies in the industry. This acquisition helps us create synergies between Parkinson, UK and San, both being strong players in the off-highway electrical segment and to harness this synergy we have created ‘Parkinson San Systems Pvt. Ltd.’
Managing Director of San Electromec, Sanjeev Mehra said “We are very pleased to announce our alliance with Dhoot Transmission. It will help us scale up on the existing client-base in harness and control panels, while being supported by strong operations and expertise of Dhoot, coupled with economy of scale benefits that we intend to extend to our clientele”
