Recognising much potential in the aftermarket in India, Delphi Automotive Systems, which is participating in the ACMA Automechanika New Delhi 2015 aftermarket trade fair which opened in New Delhi today, has announced that it plans to make a foray into the vehicle diagnostic aftermarket systems market in India. Delphi's location at the trade fair is at Hall 11/Booth G21.
Speaking to Autocar Professional, Philippe Desnos, Global President, Delphi Product & Service Solutions, said that with the growing electronics content in passenger cars there is increased demand for the latest diagnostic systems to help analyse problems in new-generation vehicles.
At present, Bosch is the leading player in India with its varied range of diagnostic equipment.
Faisal Matin, country director, India and sub-continent, said that Delphi also plans to introduce a new steering and suspension assembly in India. This assembly comprises around 250 parts, some of which will be brought from Europe and some sourced locally.

For Delphi, brake pads, brake parts and steering assembly comprise around 15-20 percent of its global business and also in Asia. The company is bullish about overall growth in India and believes that the automotive industry will soon bounce back.
The Indian auto component industry's turnover is expected to hit US$ 100 billion by 2020 and exports are billed to grow from $10 billion to $35-45 billion. And sales from overseas subsidiaries are expected to touch $20-22 billion from the current level of $6 billion.
