Daimler Truck Innovation Center India (DTICI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CHRIST (deemed to be a university) to set up a product orientation facility on their campus to provide hands-on learning and technical knowledge to aspiring students.

As part of the collaboration, DTICI’s product orientation centre will provide immersive hands-on experience in assembling and disassembling the trucks to impart practical knowledge about automotive engineering. Students will get an opportunity to understand the major automotive systems in commercial vehicles and their working principles.

With access to free mentoring support, the program will help students with foundational engineering and technology competencies. Students and faculty of Christ University will receive orientation sessions on various components, including design, product engineering, and technical knowledge, for a more enriched learning experience. The facility will impart key skills that are generally not available in the college curriculum but are in high demand in the industry.

Raghavendra Vaidya, Managing Director and CEO, Daimler Truck Innovation Center India said, "Our engagement with Christ University is a step forward in industry-academia collaboration that aims to improve the technical education opportunities of students. The pace of change in the auto sector is accelerating and it is important to be aligned with the latest developments. This initiative will help introduce students to practical knowledge of commercial vehicles early in their curriculum, which is usually not the case. It is important for the entire ecosystem, including industry and academia, to work in conjunction to empower our future work force.”

Dr. Iven Jose, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) University said, “We are delighted to partner with DTICI in empowering the students with technical skills. While theoretical knowledge plays a crucial role in the development of students’ expertise, practical exposure will facilitate a deeper understanding and connection to the industry. Collaborating with DTICI will ensure that students receive hands-on experience in a complex industry like transportation. This initiative will help the next gen to scale themselves to the changing market demands.”

With mentoring & nurturing the young engineers, DTICI will play a significant role in giving an opportunity to the younger generation with the tools they need to build a better future for themselves and to expand their horizon.

DTICI, which started operations in November 2021 as a global innovations center of Daimler Truck focused on Product Engineering and IT, is headquartered in Bengaluru. It taps into India’s engineering and IT talent to develop innovative products both locally and globally. The company is one of the largest development centers of Daimler Truck outside Germany, with a team of skilled and talented engineers, catering to all Daimler Truck brands across the globe.
