Autocar Professional had earlier this month reported on the likelihood of production of Indian vehicle and component manufacturers being affected due to the outbreak of Coronavirus in China and the resultant impact on the supply chain.

Now, the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer has officially confirmed that. In a statement issued a little while ago, Hero MotoCorp said: "The ongoing issue of Coronavirus (Covid-19) in China has affected the supply of some components to our manufacturing facilities in India. This is likely to impact our planned production by around 10% for the month of February. However, the wholesale dispatches of our vehicles to the dealers during the month remain unaffected. Any further impact on our production will depend on the developing situation in China. We continue to track the developments and keep evaluating our options."

In January, Hero MotoCorp produced a total of 517,113 two-wheelers, down 6.79 percent year on year. For the April 2019-January 2020 period, production totalled 57,32,544 units, down 13.60 percent YoY.
