Continental India conferred Golden Peacock Award 2020 for excellence in Occupational Health and Safety

German technology company Continental has been conferred with Golden Peacock Award 2020 for excellence in Occupational Health and Safety. The award recognises companies across industries that demonstrate leadership in setting high standards of safety.

The company says the award promoting occupational health and safety is a corporate responsibility and critical to sustainable growth of the organisation. Continental’s overall sustainability focus covers green and safe factories and good working conditions, along with climate protection, corporate governance and so on.

Prashanth Doreswamy, country head, Continental India and MD, Continental Automotive Components (India) said: “At Continental, workplace safety is seen as a priority and therefore is a key component of our corporate strategy. This takes safety beyond a regulatory requirement or mere compliance. We actively encourage employee participation in enabling a safe work culture at our different plants.”

As part of its workplace safety objectives, Continental says it regularly and systematically analyses global and internal health and safety risks to develop sustainable programs for industrial safety, health management, ergonomics, hazardous substances management, and general safety. The company’s safety governance framework ensures tools, knowledge, and structures to maximise safety performance and track continuous improvement. Comprehending the level of influence that leadership has on the tone and safety culture of an organisation, right from the board level, leadership is involved in key occupational safety topics. Ensuring representation of all categories of employees within the various safety committees and ERT, several initiatives exist to encourage active employee participation in enabling a safe work culture.
