VE Commercial Vehicles sells 5,365 units in April, up 36%
VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) has registered sales of 5,365 units in April 2016, up 36.5% year on year (April 2015: 3,930). The sales comprised 5,326 Eicher trucks and buses and 39 Volvo trucks.
In the first month of the new fiscal, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) has registered sales of 5,365 units in April 2016, up 36.5% year on year (April 2015: 3,930). The sales comprised 5,326 Eicher trucks and buses and 39 Volvo trucks.
In April 2016, Eicher-branded trucks and buses sold a total of 5,326 units, up 38.8% (April 2015: 3,838). In the domestic CV market, Eicher sold a total of 4,641 units, up 32.5% (April 2015: 3,503). However, with sales of 39 units in April 2016, Volvo trucks saw a decline of 57.6% (April 2015: 92).
On the export front, Eicher shipped 685 units as compared to 335 units in April 2015, clocking growth of 104.5%.
Last month, VECV entered the sub-5-tonne light commercial vehicle (LCV) market with its new Pro 1049 series mini-truck, which is targeted at the growing need for last-mile connectivity in semi-urban and urban India.
With this new launch, VECV looks to challenge the dominance of Tata Motors’ popular 407 in the LCV category.
In 2015-16, VECV sold a total of 44,271 units, growing by 26% (2014-15: 35,128), increasing its overall market share to 6.46% (2014-15: 5.71%).
