China’s Advance Elite targets two-wheeler OEMs, plans Chakan plant

China-based digital CDI unit manufacturer Advance Elite Engine Component Industries Ltd will set up a manufacturing facility near Chakan. 

The company, which has developed several products suitable for two-wheelers ranging from 100cc to 220cc in the Indian market, has showcased its India-specific products at the four-day ACMA Automechanika New Delhi 2015 aftermarket trade fair which opened at Pragati Maidan today. The products include a digital CDI unit and regulator rectifier (RR) unit developed for vehicles like the TVS Apache, Bajaj Boxer 100, Yamaha FZ16, Bajaj BM100, Discover 100, Honda Unicorn, Honda CD Deluxe, Honda Splendor and Bajaj BM150.

Talking to Autocar Professional, Alex, director (International Market), Advance Elite, said the company has products specific to the Indian two-wheeler market. “We have already supplied our digital CDI unit to three Indian two-wheeler manufacturers which are testing them on road. We expected to get major orders soon.” He, however, declined to disclose the identification of the potential OEM customers in India.

The company will set up its local unit with a partnership company in India to cater to two-wheeler OEMs in the country. It has identified 5,000 square metres of land near Chakan, Pune, for the manufacturing plant;  the facility is expected to be operational within a year, he said. The plant will have a manufacturing capacity of 600,000 pieces of CDI and RR units per annum.

CDI and RR units are electrical and electronic components that support the ignition compartment of motorcycles. Advance Elite is the overseas division of its parent company Chongqing Jinlan Electronic Technology Ltd, which has its manufacturing facility in Jiangbei District Chongqing in China. It has 200 employees specialised in design and R&D of products for two- and three- wheelers.
