India and Canada have long shared bilateral relations and in fact also share close cultural ties. In a bid to further strengthen this relation along with exploring new business/economic opportunities, the Canadian Association of Mould Makers (CAMM) and the Windsor Esses Economic Development Corporation (WEEDC) signed two MoUs with EEPC India and the Tools and Gauge Manufacturers' Association of India (TAGMA) on November 28, 2018 in Mumbai.
The ceremony was jointly organised by the Consulate General of Canada; Trade and Investment office of Ontario government in Mumbai; CAAM; WEEDC; TAGMA and EEPC India.
Both the MoUs signed are claimed to be the first of their kind between Canada and India. The MoUs establish an institutional framework for member companies of the leading industry associations in Canada and India to collaborate for opportunities in the Indian and global market.
Speaking at the ceremony, Annie Dube, Consul General for Canada in Mumbai, said: “The MoUs signed with EEPC India and TAGMA mark the first steps in a collaboration between Canada and India in technologies to be used in the industry of the future. Canada is well placed internationally in terms of R&D in new emerging technologies such as additive manufacturing, advanced analytics, big data, robotics & automation, AI, IoT and process digitisation across the business value chain.”
Jonathon Azzopardi, president, Canadian Association of Moldmakers (CAMM), said: "The signing of the MoU agreements between TAGMA, EEPC and CAMM is the first step of bringing the two already successful industrial economies together to build partnerships focused on harnessing the strengths of our two industries to create a mould making super power on a global scale."
Rakesh Naidu, COO, Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation, said: "We are delighted to partner with EEPC and TAGMA. We expect this relationship will be of mutual benefit to Windsor-Essex and the Indian companies. We have identified specific areas of interest and will work collaboratively to take this forward. The time is right for Canada and India to work together."
CAMM is Canada’s leading national association representing mould makers, service providers and suppliers to the global mould making Industry. The association was established in 1981 to provide a unified voice in representing the mould making industry on the national and international stage. Their members include a vast array of global companies focused on mould making, designing, manufacturing, service and supply.
WEEDC is a not-for-profit organisation supported by towns and the city of Windsor in the province of Ontario, Canada. It is responsible for advancing economic development to grow and sustain prosperity for its region. The organisation is focussed to develop and execute strategies to retain, expand, attract and help new businesses start up in the Windsor-Essex region.
EEPC India is the premier trade and investment promotion organisation in India, which is financed by the ministry of commerce & industry, government of India, and caters to the Indian engineering sector.
TAGMA is the apex body representing the Indian tooling industry, established in the year 1990 with a presence in Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Noida, and Pune. The association represents membership of around 665 companies.
