BYD India’s e6 drives into the record books

BYD India, a subsidiary of the Warren Buffett-backed new energy vehicle company, has entered the India Book of Records for the maximum distance covered by an electric car with the all-new e6. The fully-electric MPV led the charge in the ‘Sustainable Drive for a Sustainable India’ initiative.

The 6-day drive from Mumbai to New Delhi, covering 9 cities across 4 states, marked the longest EV journey in India. Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, head of electric passenger vehicle business, BYD India, said, “Our premium electric MPV saved 413kg of carbon emissions on the journey, a new benchmark set by an EV, leading to its entry into the India Book of Records.”

“With Charge Zone as our electric charging partner, the drive of 2203 km was covered seamlessly with charging points across national highways. The drive has proven that BYD India’s all-new e6 with the Blade Battery is a trusted vehicle in safety, comfort, drivability, and long-range on a single charge,” he further added.

June has seen India set records of sorts with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) entering the Guinness Book of World Records world record for constructing a 75-kilometer continuous bituminous concrete in a single lane on NH-53 in a record time of less than five days. The stretch of roadway between Amravati and Akola in Maharashtra was completed in 105 hours and 33 minutes, breaking the previous world record. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced that India has entered the Guinness World Records for constructing the longest piece of road where bituminous concrete is laid continuously.
