Bridgestone India resumes operations at Pune and Indore plants
Tyre maker has begun low-scale production and warehouse activities with a gradual ramp-up in the order.
Japanese tyre major Bridgestone today restarted operations at two of its Indian manufacturing units shuttered for over a month due to the Covid-19 lock-down in place in India.
Bridgestone India has announced that it resumed manufacturing activities at its plant in Pune, Maharashtra and Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The company has also stated that it has restarted operations at its regional warehouses in the country.
While the company is initially aiming low-scale production, a ramp-up will only be done in gradual manner. Bridgestone says it is following all social distancing guidelines issued by the WHO, including adhering to strict protocols for occupational health and safety of its employees.
According to Parag Satpute, managing director, Bridgestone India, “Safety is our core value and remains a top priority even in these uncertain times. The safety of our people and partners is of utmost importance, and we are following all necessary protocols to ensure they remain safe. Another major focus right now is for us to ensure business continuity, which is essential for the economy, as it tries to overcome the Covid-19 setback. We are being agile in our approach and continue to improvise as the situation evolves; however, what remains constant is our commitment to safety and quality. In this, we adhere to the global best practices from the Bridgestone Group.”
