Bosch India appoints Dr Bernhard Straub as chairman

Dr Bernhard Straub takes charge as the new chairman of Bosch in India, following the recent resignation of V K Vishwanathan.

Following the resignation of V K Vishwanathan, chairman and non-executive director at the Indian subsidiary of global Tier 1 supplier Bosch, the global Tier 1 and technology major has announced that it has appointed Dr Bernhard Straub, non-executive, non-independent director as an additional director designated as a Chairman of the Board with effect from August 24, 2019.

Dr Straub has been with the Bosch Group for nearly 40 years, having begun his career in 1989 as an engineer and senior expert in technical data processing. In 1994 he took charge of business administration for information processing at Feuerbach (Germany), coming to India in 1996 as commercial plant manager for the Naganathapura plant in India. In 1999, he was deputed to handle the Value-Based Management Project Schillerhohe (Germany), becoming department head of Controlling, Reutlingen (Germany) in 2002.

From 2005 to 2008, he headed the Controlling and Financial functions in Tokyo (Japan), later becoming commercial plant manager at Salzgitter (Germany). In 2012 he was appointed executive vice-president (Controlling and Financial) Electrical Drives in Stuttgart (Germany) and in January 2014 as president - Electrical Drives also in Stuttgart.

Dr Straub has a doctorate in philosophy from the University of London (England) and has also studied informatics (analysis, design and management in informatics systems) at the University of London with diploma Master of Science.
