BMW Motorrad launches new R 1250 R and RT in India

Priced at Rs 15.95 lakh and Rs 22.50 lakh respectively, the new R 1250 R and R 1250 RT tourer get more power and BMW ShiftCam technology.

BMW Motorrad launched the new BMW R 1250 R and R 1250 RT in India today. Available as completely built-up units (CBUs), they are priced at Rs 15.95 lakh and Rs 22.50 lakh respectively (ex-showroom).

The R 1250 R naked bike is clad is a black storm metallic for a classic look and cover many details including the front-wheel cover, front spoiler, tank side trim and rear side panels. A touch of high-end flair is provided by new model inscriptions as well as the black seat with embossment on the passenger seat. In Style Exclusive, the new R 1250 R highlights the all-round qualities of a roadster for active riding. All trim panel components are painted in Pollux metallic matt.

The BMW R 1250 RT tourer has two Spezial Option 719 finishes - Blue Planet metallic and Sparkling Storm metallic. Chrome elements such as the handlebar weights and windshield trim element underscore the luxurious character of the new R 1250 RT.

Both motorcycles are fitted with front spoiler that provides a touch of distinction. The golden brake calipers, radiator cover and stainless steel tank cover emphasize a unique appearance. Both BMWs feature the powerful 2-cylinder in-line Boxer engine with a displacement of 1254cc, producing a powerful output of 100 kW (136 hp) at 7750rpm, generating a maximum torque of 143 Nm at 6250rpm.

The two bikes also get variable camshaft control (BMW ShiftCam), an entirely new technology which provides supreme rideability along with an additional increase in power across the entire engine speed range, reduced emission and fuel consumption levels, optimised running smoothness and refinement.

The BMW R 1250 R and R 1250 RT have two riding modes available as standard in order to be able to adapt the motorcycle to individual rider preferences. The standard Automatic Stability Control (ASC) ensures a high level of riding safety due to best possible traction. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS Pro) offers even greater safety when braking, even in banking position. The set-off assistant Hill Start Control is likewise a standard feature in both models, enabling convenient set-off on slopes.

Relaxed or dynamic touring, the all-new BMW R 1250 RT is incredibly versatile. Numerous features such as Seat Heating, Central locking system, Tyre pressure control and Anti-theft alarm system add to the riding enjoyment and safety. Distinctive features – Dynamic ESA, preparation for GPS unit, cruise control and Keyless Ride further add to the boxer feeling all day long. Riding modes Pro, Headlight Pro, Daytime Riding Light and chrome-plated exhaust pipe lend a sporting character to the motorcycle, both visually and functionally.

The BMW R 1250 R now has the equipment feature Connectivity as standard including a 6.5 inch full-colour TFT screen. Integrating operation via the BMW Motorrad multi-controller, it gives the rider quick access to vehicle and connectivity functions. Phone and media functions can be used without having to install an app. The rider can easily make telephone calls and enjoy listening to music with Bluetooth connection. Audio system with Radio Software provides the ultimate touring experience. In addition, the BMW Motorrad Connected app offers everyday-suitable and practice-oriented arrow navigation directly via the TFT display. The R 1250 RT is fitted with a large 5.7- inch TFT colour screen, supplemented with an analogue speedometer and rev counter.
