German luxury carmaker BMW today launched the X1 facelift in India, with prices starting at Rs 35.90 lakh. The small luxury SUV now gets two BS VI-compliant engine options and three trim levels to choose from.

The BMW X1 facelift will be sold in two petrol and two diesel variants. The petrol engine option is available for the new entry-level SportX trim or the mid-spec xLine trim. In case of diesel engines, is available in the xLine or range-topping M Sport form. Furthermore, the new BMW X1 is now a two-wheel drive model only as the carmaker has decided to axe the all-wheel-drive xDrive 20d variant available with its predecessor.

Rudratej Singh, president and CEO, BMW Group India said, “The BMW X1 has established and owned the dominant position in the premium compact sports activity vehicle (SAV) segment. This is also the trend worldwide - it reflects the global need the X1 serves. The X1 fits in perfectly with the attitude and lifestyle of modern ambitious future leaders who are redefining success - personally and professionally. They don’t hold back and live in the present, enjoying the thrill of success, celebrating each moment of their performance, here and now. They are fearless in playing the big game. In terms of exterior changes, the X1 facelift gets a larger version of BMW’s signature kidney grille, restyled front and rear bumpers, and new alloy wheels. The headlights and tail-lights have been tweaked too, with the former getting new LED DRLs. Range-topping X1 M Sport variants also get more aggressive bumpers, with larger disc brakes and new colour options.

The tweaked interior features new upholstery and better quality of materials. New features on offer include a panoramic sunroof and a 10.25-inch infotainment system.

The 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engines of the outgoing X1 have been carried forward to the facelift in BS VI guise. The petrol engine makes 192hp and 280Nm of peak torque, while the diesel is tuned to produce 190hp and 400Nm of torque. Both units come paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic as standard.

With the X1 facelift, BMW India is offering a 5 year/60,000km service and warranty package. Customers who book the SUV in March will be able to avail the package at a special price of Rs 15,000 for the petrol variants and Rs 20,000 for the diesel.

The BMW X1 facelift continues to rival the Audi Q3, Mini Countryman and Volvo XC40, along with the upcoming all-new Mercedes-Benz GLA.
