Bajaj ropes in Sibros solution for electric Chetak

Bajaj Auto has deployed the cloud-based Deep Connected Platform from US-based Sibros for its Chetak electric scooter fleet. The platform will provide the Chetak with safe OTA software and firmware updates, as well as significant vehicle-to-cloud data insights for all embedded sensors, battery analytics and diagnostics.

The platform will also provide connectivity to back-end enterprise and dealer management systems, and is scalable. As a result of the platform, the customer’s digital experience will be enhanced by integrating vehicle data and user commands from a central cloud command center for OEM visibility in order to provide customer services, as well as within the myChetak mobile app.

The Sibros product offers several user features including geo-fencing controls, theft and accident alerts, a digital key, trip data, service reminders and OTA diagnostic troubleshooting.

“Sibros’ product provides two-wheeler OEMs with deep, safe and secure OTA software updates, data collection, remote commands and fleet management from a single system,” said Hemant Sikaria, CEO and co-founder, Sibros. By deploying the Sibros connectivity platorm , we will get the benefit of meaningful cost efficiencies and competitive advantages,” said Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, Bajaj Auto. “The ability to remotely repair and upgrade software and firmware will significantly lower future costs for recalls and warranty repairs, and enable Bajaj to create and rapidly implement an almost limitless suite of software-based new features and services,” Sharma added.

Earlier this month, Bajaj Auto announced its plans to establish an electric vehicle manufacturing facility at Akurdi in Pune, the site of the original Chetak scooter, at investment of Rs 300 crore. The facility will have the capacity to produce 5,00,000 EVS a year for both local and export markets.
