Bajaj Auto first two-wheeler OEM to pass GST benefit to buyers
The company says the savings will be in the range of Rs 4,500, depending on the model and the Indian State of purchase.
Pune-based Bajaj Auto, India's fourth largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has announced that it will pass the GST benefits to its customers with immediate effect. While this makes Bajaj Auto among the very few automakers in India that have taken quick decision in this context, it becomes the first two-wheeler company in the domestic market to do so.
According to an official communication, Bajaj Auto has decided to offer post-GST prices to its customers from today – June 14. "The savings will be in the range of Rs 4,500, depending on the model and the state of purchase," quotes the company release.
It is understood that the taxes on the two-wheeler models will reduce in most Indian states with the implementation of the GST from July 1, 2017.
Commenting on this decision, Eric Vas, president, motorcycle business, Bajaj Auto said, " Bajaj Auto is happy to pass on the price saving accruing out of GST to its customers. With the GST implementation just around the corner, we felt that it would be appropriate to pass on this significant savings to customers. Bajaj Auto is the first and only motorcycle company in India to offer post-GST reduced prices to customers even before the implementation date.”
It may be recollected that Bajaj Auto was also the first mover in terms of upgrading its portfolio of two- and three-wheeler models to BSIV emission norms, which triggered a marginal price rise across its models.
