Bajaj Auto has launched 14  BS VI-compliant products across the RE, Maxima and Maxima Cargo three-wheeler brands. This is the widest range of commercial three-wheelers now available with BS VI technology.

According to Samardeep Subandh, joint president – Bajaj Auto IBU, "The introduction of these models completes the transition of our entire product range to BS VI emission norms ahead of time. Our world-class R&D team has enhanced our offerings while meeting the BS VI norms so that customers get excellent value for their money. We are confident that the new BS VI products in the RE and Maxima range will further strengthen our leadership position in the market.”

The RE brand now comes with Fuel Injection (FI) technology in a 236cc engine across three fuel options (CNG, LPG and Petrol). In the Maxima brand, the same engine has been re-configured to meet BS VI emission norms and continues to deliver consistent power and pick-up. The diesel range, across the RE and Maxima brands, meet the stringent BS VI norms through exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) technology and employs a catalytic converter with the same 470cc diesel engine.

Bajaj Auto says it has also increased its free service offer across the range to three inclusive of labour, filter and oil change.

In the first 11 months of FY2020, Bajaj Auto has sold 346,557 three-wheelers, down 3.79% year on year (April 2019-February 2020: 360,201). This gives it a market-leading market share of 56.91% at present.

Piaggio Vehicles with 145,154 units (-6.38%) is the No. 2 player with 23.84% market share, with the other six OEMs with single-digit or even less shares.
