AVL readies Euro 6 testing solutions for the India market

AVL, the global engineering service provider, which participated at the Automotive Testing Expo in Chennai last month, displayed its humungous range of testing and instrumentation solutions, mainly with a view to assisting OEMs and suppliers to get BS VI-ready ahead of the 2020 deadline.
With an India presence of over three decades, the company has a team of experienced engineers supported by a Euro 6- compliant technical centre and AVL training and skills centre with development, testing and certification of real driving emission (RDE) needs.
Readiness for BS VI means OEMs have to consider new engine concepts for the powertrain, exhaust after-treatment and also the complete vehicle itself. AVL aims to make companies well equipped on the testing front and also work with them for certification and R&D activity.

L-R: AVL's Prabhu Santiago, general manager; Michael Muhlogger, global business unit manager; and Nituj Bhatnagar, business unit head (Measurement & instrumentation), at the Automotive Testing Expo in Chennai last month.
“We have tools which are important both for certification and also for R&D because at the end you have to show that the particulate numbers are within the limits,” said Michael Muhlogger, global business unit manager, AVL List GmbH.
Being a global solutions provider, AVL has considerable experience with European and American OEMs for Euro 6 compliance. It is now looking to transfer the know-how in India and also ensure that OEMs in India do not just replicate the Euro 6 system in their test labs but in real-world driving emissions too. The company, which works with most engine manufacturers, has products for development, certification, after-treatment, particulate measurement, RDE, evaporation testing, hybrid and electric vehicle testing and diagnostic equipment.
