Mahindra Trucks and Buses is going all out to make a mark for itself in the Indian commercial vehicle market. While the Blazo has garnered a substantial presence, the company’s latest salvo at gaining market share is the new Furio intermediate CV with a very promising sales and aftersales pitch. The Furio also fills a gap in the company’s portfolio and helps it become a full-range CV player.

Gaining new buyers and market share is also what Maruti Suzuki India is targeting with the new Wagon R. Read our first drive impression as also interviews with CV Raman, Executive Director – Engineering, and RS Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales.

The Interview of the Fortnight is with PB Balaji, Chief Financial Officer, Tata Motors, who speaks on how the company’s turnaround plan is shaping up, winning sustainably in the passenger vehicle business, extending gains in the CV business and also collaborating with Jaguar Land Rover in EVs.

Like vehicle manufacturers, the component industry is also dealing with a multitude of disruptions, technological and otherwise. The recent ACMA ACT Summit, held in Pune, saw captains of industry urge the supplier community to speedily transform to stay relevant and ensure sustainable growth. This means digitization, IoT and Industry 4.0.

The fourth ACMA Automechanika New Delhi automotive aftermarket trade fair is underway and we’ve got an in-depth interview with Raj Manek, the Executive Director and Board Member of Messe Frankfurt Asia Holding, which organizes the biennial event along with ACMA. Manek speaks on a range of issues including present and future trends, expected business visitor footfalls and lots more.

Another recently held key industry exhibition was IMTEX in Bangalore. Our comprehensive coverage of the largest ever such trade fair for machine tool manufacturers is a must-read.

There’s plenty of news too in this issue.
