Auto Expo Motor Show 2016 showcases India’s manufacturing and technological prowess
With over 65 vehicle manufacturers unveiling 108 new products and over 601,000 visitors, the Auto Expo Motor Show at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, has been an unmitigated success and a driver of the Make In India programme.
Auto Expo – The Motor Show 2016, the biennial show of the Indian automotive industry, came to a successful close on the fifth public day at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. The exposition, jointly organised by the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) was held from February 5-9, 2016.
Vishnu Mathur, director general, SIAM, said, “We believe the Auto Expo has successfully evolved from being just another exhibition of vehicles to a showcase of Indian manufacturing strength and technological capabilities. With over 108 new products being launched and unveiled and over 601,914 visitors received over the last week, we believe this Expo will strengthen the belief of our manufacturers in the Indian automotive industry.”
The event, which was inaugurated by Anant Geete, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, along with Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road, Transport and Highways, saw 65 manufacturers exhibit a varied range of products spanning all vehicle segments like 2-, 3-, 4-wheelers and multi-axle trucks too.
Coinciding with the Auto Expo, the Auto Trade Dialogue facilitated better understanding and appreciation of the needs of the automotive industries in various countries and regions. Also, on the side lines of the Auto Expo, the 10th Styling and Design Conclave saw industry leaders debate and discuss the future of design and styling in the automotive industry with a focus on the Indian automotive industry. The first prize for the design contest was bagged by a student from MIT, Pune while the second prize went to DSK Rubika followed by NID, Ahmedabad.
