Auto Expo 2014: Datsun redi-Go concept points to the future

Datsun took the wraps of a new crossover concept, called the redi-Go, at the Auto Expo. While the redi-Go is very good looking for what’s going to be one of the most affordable cars in India, the final version may not have the same elements. The concept’s impressive styling is very different from the current Go hatchback’s platform. With a wheelbase of 2350mm, expect it be quite spacious and its high ground clearance and crossover-type appearance will certainly appeal to the Indian consumer.
The production car will come with different doors and details and will be more of an evolution of the existing platform or a new one. The designers have kept cladding down to a minimum, but there are still quite a few striking lines. The concept has got the typical Datsun grille and the high mounted details. The distinctive beltline that bulges out in quite an aggressive way gives the redi-Go a unique look. The small glasshouse will mean that visibility won’t be great, but Nissan wanted the design to look aggressive. The production version will be very aggressively priced, possibly under Rs 4 lakh!
