Audi India launches RS 5 Sportback at Rs 1.04 crore

Four-door coupe is powered by a 450hp, V6 TFSI petrol motor.

Audi India has launched the Audi RS 5 Sportback performance sedan in India, priced at Rs 1.04 crore, ex-showroom.

The car comes with a sleek four-door coupe roofline, Matrix headlamps, dynamic turn indicators and 19-inch alloy wheels.

There's also a panoramic sunroof on offer, black alcantara seats and Audi's Virtual Cockpit Plus and MMI Navigation Plus navigation system. The sportier front seats have adjustable lumbar support along with the cabin offering 3-zone climate control.

The Audi RS 5 comes powered by a 2.9-litre, V6, TFSI petrol engine that produces 450hp and 600Nm of peak torque. It comes with Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system as standard along with self-locking central differential. The company claims a 0-100kph time on the sports sedan at 3.9 seconds.

In terms of safety, the Audi RS 5 comes equipped with six airbags, Parking Aid Plus, hill-hold assist and cruise control among other active safety systems.

According to Balbir Singh Dhillon, head, Audi India, "We have witnessed good traction for all our Sports models, across the country and with the advent of the Audi RS 5 Sportback, we look forward to fueling the appetite for performance cars."

"This is our fifth launch of the year and I can assure you this won’t be our last – stay tuned for a lot more action from brand Audi in India," Dhillon added.

The RS 5 is Audi's fifth launch in India, with the earlier models including its all-electric trio of e-tron and e-tron Sportback crossovers as well as the facelifted Audi A4 introduced in January this year.

The RS 5 sports sedan rivals models such as the BMW M3 and Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 available in India. 

The luxury car market in India has been impacted by Covid, which has impacted most entrepreneurs and their businesses have borne the brunt of the first wave of the pandemic last year. However, 2021 has seen a recovery with market leader Mercedes-Benz India recording up to 65 percent year-on-year growth in the first half of the calendar year. 

 

Audi India has a retail network of 39 showrooms across India including metros and Tier-2 cities.
