Audi India has commenced bookings of its upcoming all-electric e-tron SUV duo. The Audi e-tron and the e-tron Sportback will be introduced in the country on July 22, and dealers are taking bookings for Rs 500,000. The crossovers will be brought through the completely-built unit (CBU) channel.

While the Audi e-tron SUV gets a more upright silhouette with a large grille and sharply-cut LED headlights, the e-tron Sportback, on the other hand, gets a roofline that slopes down aggressively towards the rear.

Audi’s Matrix LED headlamps will come as standard equipment on both models, while progressive steering and adaptive air suspension will also be part of the standard kit.

The highlights inside the Audi e-tron’s cabin include Audi’s Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment system as well as an 8.8-inch touch display for the four-zone climate control system.

Globally, the Audi e-tron is available with a variety of powertrains, including a 71.2kWh battery pack for the entry-level 50 quattro trim, and a 95kWh battery pack for the higher powered 55 quattro and e-tron S trims.

Interestingly, Audi India has chosen to go ahead with the 95kWh variant for the Indian market and with either model being powered by a dual-motor setup, the power and torque figures are being pegged at 402bhp and 664Nm, respectively. The setup will feature advanced brake recuperation and a range mode as well.

Audi India’s decision to go with a fully-loaded version could be understood to go head-to-head with arch rivals Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar, which have already introduced their high-end EQC and I-Pace all-electric models in the premium luxury car segment in the Indian market.

On a WLTP cycle, Audi claims a combined driving range between 359km and 484km on a single charge, which would be possible from a 11kW AC home charger in 8.5 hours, or through a 150kW DC fast charger in a flat thirty minutes.

According to Balbir Singh Dhillon, head, Audi India, “, “The future is electric and we are thrilled to open bookings for not one but two electric SUVs – the Audi e-tron and the Audi e-tron Sportback in India. The e-tron is not just one product but a brand in itself and we will launch several new models under this brand.”

Customers willing to pre-book their Audi e-tron or e-tron Sportback could also do it digitally by logging in to the company’s website for a convenient remote experience.
