Atlas Copco, has announced its acquisition of Qolibri Inc, a company that provides proprietary technologies for semiconductor subfab operations. Qolibri, which is based in Roseville, near Sacramento in California, USA, develops solutions for semiconductor subfabs, which are home to the many pumps and abatement systems that handle the exhaust gases and by-products generated by the semiconductor manufacturing process.

“We are making this acquisition to help improve our customers’ sustainability by extending the uptime of our vacuum and abatement solutions”, said Geert Follens, Business Area President Vacuum Technique in a statement issued by the company. It did not disclose the purchase price of the deal.

The statement reads that the acquired business, which currently employs four people, had a revenue of about USD 70,000 in 2021 and has plans to launch new products in 2022. It will operationally become part of the semiconductor division within Atlas Copco’s Vacuum Technique business area. The development comes even as equipment demand from the semiconductor industry continues to remain robust with order volumes increasing strongly, particularly in Europe and North America.

Atlas Copco has four business areas out of which the Compressor Technique business area provides compressed air solutions, industrial compressors, gas and process compressors and expanders, air and gas treatment equipment, and air management systems.

The business area has a global service network and innovates for sustainable productivity in the manufacturing and process industries. Principal product development and manufacturing units are located in Belgium, the USA, China, India, Germany, and Italy.
