Commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland has announced that it has resumed all its plant operations across the country. With the government slowly relaxing the restriction for lockdown, the company started its operations obtaining the required permissions. They will slowly ramp up the production across all facilities after taking certain things into consideration.
The Chennai-based CV maker has a total of seven plants in Ennore (Tamil Nadu), Hosur (Tamil Nadu), Bhandara (Maharashtra), Alwar (Rajasthan) and Pantnagar (Uttarakhand).
Vipin Sondhi, Managing Director and CEO, Ashok Leyland said, “With the relaxation of the lockdown, we have resumed operations in all our plants across the country, after obtaining necessary approvals from the relevant authorities. In accordance with the stated guidelines as given by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the relevant local authorities, we shall be ensuring all the necessary health and safety protocols in our facilities, for all stakeholders,"
Adding more, he said, "We will gradually ramp up production across facilities after taking into consideration the Work in Progress (WIP), which was on hold at the time of announcement of lock-down, the supply chain readiness after opening and
most importantly the preparedness of the ancillary units to supply us critical components, for sustained production of vehicles.”
It is noted that during the lockdown period, Ashok Leyland has announced an extension of its warranty and free service periods to support its customers. Also, as part of the ServiceMandi initiative, under the e-Dhan fuel card scheme, Ashok Leyland associated with oil major HPCL to reach out to truck drivers who were stranded on the highways across the country to lend support.
