Ashok Leyland plans array of launches in CNG, LNG segments

Commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland has planned launches in the CNG and LNG segments in the near future. The company will be coming out with Dost+ CNG, Bada Dost CNG, EComet CNG, AVTR range in CNG etc are the few mentioned while announcing the Q4FY22 results.

Gopal Mahadevan, Whole Time Director and Chief Financial Officer, Ashok Leyland said that the e-commerce industry and the investment in infrastructure is growing in recent times. “This is the reason we have launched various products in recent times. Also, you will see a bit of CNG in LCV which we believe is beneficial. We have an active consideration to expand the LCV range. And if we need to grow, it is important that we grow the LCV business. You will see launches in all the segments, and when we see the demand, we will put in vehicles.”

Dheeraj Hinduja, Executive Chairman, Ashok Leyland added, “The MHCV segment is leading the recovery riding on the back of growth in core sectors such as construction, mining, agriculture, increased capital outlay for infrastructure projects and pent-up replacement demand. The performance of our BS VI products has been very good and the introduction of CNG products has helped us regain our market share.”

He further elaborated that the, “LCV volumes driven by increased demand for last mile connectivity, especially from the e-commerce segment is expected to grow further. The focus on exports, defence, power solutions and parts businesses will ensure a balanced growth. We are keenly following the commodity prices, and the situation on the supply of semiconductors and hope that both will ease.”

Gopal Mahadevan, said, “All other businesses including aftermarket and international operations have done exceptionally well. The higher volumes and our cost management initiatives have helped us improve our bottom line.”
