Ashok Leyland, Mahindra, Tata Motors likely to adopt Helios water-based paint technology

Indian commercial vehicle majors Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors may adopt water-based paint technology from Slovenia-based automotive paint manufacturer Helios.

Currently EFFCO Finishes & Technologies has been distributing Helios paints in India. Sharing details at on the ongoing Auto Expo 2016-The Component Show, Kalyan Dhakane, managing director, EFFCO, said the company has been supplying around 30-40 metric tonnes of Helios paints in India per annum primarily to the auto component industry.

He said many vehicle and component manufacturers currently use thinner-based paints, which are not eco-friendly.

“We are trying to convert them to adopt water-based paints through Helios technology,” Dhakane added and said the company is in the process of setting up a production facility in India soon. 

The Helios Group ranks among the top ten coating companies in Europe. It has 14 production sites and supplies over 15,000 customers in more than 60 countries worldwide.
