The Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC), the apex body of skill development for the Indian automotive sector, held its eighth Annual General Meeting in New Delhi that witnessed important developments and also the announcement of office bearers for FY2020.
The AGM was attended by key members from the automotive industry, including manufacturers and industry bodies’ representatives. Extensive discussions and deliberations were held on the work done during the past year and the way forward.
As per the deliberations at the AGM, the executive committee of ASDC has re-elected Nikunj Sanghi as chairman for 2019-20. Vishnu Mathur, former director general of SIAM; Vinnie Mehta, director general, ACMA and Saharsh Damani, CEO, FADA strongly recommended that Sanghi continue as chairman of ASDC, taking into consideration his tremendous contribution to the industry. Kenichi Ayukawa, CEO, Maruti Suzuki India, has been retained as vice-chairman of ASDC, while F R Singhvi, Joint MD, Sansera Technologies continues as the treasurer.

ASDC is the first sector skill council set up by NSDC to oversee the regulation of skill development initiatives within automotive industry. ASDC aims to skill and certify 25 million youth over the next 10 years. It is a joint initiative of the government of India, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA).
