As India begins the journey toward tyre 'star rating,' Apollo Tyres has said it is the first company to be awarded 5 stars for light truck radials.

In a press note, the company said multiple SKUs of the 16-inch Apollo Endurace RA and LD have received 5-star ratings from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), with a few also receiving 4-star ratings.

Satish Sharma, President, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA), Apollo Tyres said “BEE’s label programme provides the customers information on fuel/energy savings, and helps them make an informed buying decision. The savings on fuel/energy, which is the highest cost for this category of consumers, optimises their entire cost of operation. We are the leaders in the CV category, especially in the light truck radials, and this star rating would help us further dominate the segment.”

The Apollo EnduRace RA and Apollo EnduRace LD tube type radial ranges are for steer axle or all-wheel fitment and drive axle fitment, respectively. These variations offer 4x2 trucks with a load carrying capability of up to 9 tonnes to meet all the regional transportation requirements of domestic customers for both short- and long-haul applications across the nation. In addition to trucks, these tyres are also a used  for schools and tourist buses in the passenger market. The company also sells these tyres to Mahindra, VECV, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, and VE.

According to the manufacturer, EnduRace RA's steer/all-wheel tread pattern is designed with a sinusoidal groove base and rib tapers to offer improved stability and control for vehicle handling and minimal rolling resistance. Whereas the optimised contact pressure dampens noise, the stress-relieving sipes encourage consistent wear. With its robust and long-lasting blocks, the EnduRace LD tread pattern offers drive axle traction in heavy load situations with smooth wear, reduced heat, and improved cut and chip resistance. These tyres' casings are manufactured with cords that are tension-optimized for lower stress and maximum durability for multi-life performance, it added
