After inking the technical partnership with Seiken Chemical Industry Company Ltd of Japan, Ansysco Anand, an Anand Group company, is gunning for business from the country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India.

The partnership marks Ansysco’s entry into the OEM segment as it currently makes and supplies coolants and brake fluids for the aftermarket. The Anand Group company has a manufacturing facility at Parwanoo in Himachal Pradesh where its chemicals portfolio is located.

Jagdish Kumar, CFO and president of the Anand Group, told Autocar Professional today that the new chemical products come with an advanced technology from its technology partner Seiken and factor in safety aspects involved in the hydraulic braking system.

The Japanese coolants and brake fluids will have to undergo trials and testing in the Indian environment, after which local production will commence by end-2017. They are expected to be high on the performance aspect and more durable than the fluids being currently manufactured. It is understood that their manufacturing formulation and quality control inputs will be provided by the Japanese counterpart who is the market leader in coolants and brake fluids in Japan, with its largest customer being Suzuki Motor Corporation.

Some of the key Indian competitors in this field are SCCI-India, which markets its coolants and brake fluids under the Golden Cruiser brand name and is an Indo-Japanese joint venture. It holds a large market share with Japanese car companies and will pose a challenge for the Ansysco Anand-Seiken partnership. Among other rivals is CCI.

Ansysco India, which was set up in 1995, manufactures radiator coolants, PVC adhesives and DGX (direct glazed adhesives), for the aftermarket. Currently Ansysco-Anchemco, chemical companies of the Anand Group, contribute a turnover of Rs 60 crore to overall group revenues. Kumar says that he prefers to wait before speculating on proposed revenues accruing from the OE stream of the new business.
