M&M launches 4-wheel drive tractor under Arjun Novo brand

Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES) has launched a four wheel drive, 57 HP variant of its Arjun Novo tractor, to mark the first anniversary of the brand.

Developed in-house at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, The Arjun Novo 4WD is a step up from the existing benchmark that the company had set last year with the launch of the Novo series.

Powered by a 57 HP engine, the tractor comes with a 4WD axle that distributes equal amount of power to all four wheels. This allows it to tackle all kinds of terrain and work on all soil types and conditions, the company said in a statement.

The new tractor can be used for a range of applications, such as harvesting, straw reaping, puddling, haulage, agricultural material handling, among others. It is suited for wet cultivation and can be used with agriculture implements such as tractor-mounted combined harvester, gyrovator, dozers and loader.

Among other features of the machine is a 30 speed (15 Forward + 15 Reverse) transmission, with a range from 1.7 kmph to 33.5 kmph.

Commenting on the launch, Harish Chavan, chief operating officer, Farm Division, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “This is the first 4WD offering from Mahindra & will make Arjun Novo even more versatile for different farming applications. We want to enhance the farmer’s experience and allow him to do more with his Novo by giving him the technologically advanced features that are already synonymous with the Arjun Novo brand. We will be offering this tractor at special introductory price for limited period.”
